How do I begin a relationship with Jesus? The Bible teaches that God created us in His image (Genesis 1:1 & 27), has authority over everything he made (Matthew 28:18), loves us unconditionally (Psalm 86:15, Romans 8:38-39), and made us for relationship with him (Acts 17:27). We are all born into a sinful state (Romans 5:12), and our personal sin separates each one of us from God (Romans 3:23). The result of our sin is death and eternal separation from God (Romans 6:23, 2 Thessalonians 1:9). Because of God’s deep love for us, he sent Jesus, who is fully man and fully God (John 10:30, Philippians 2:6-7), to take the punishment for our sin and save us from eternal punishment and God’s wrath (John 3:16, Romans 5:8-9). Jesus could be the only perfect sacrifice because of his sinless human life and infinite divine nature (2 Corinthians 5:21, 1 John 2:2). Jesus willingly died on the cross for our sin and rose again from the dead (John 10:18, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4), and those who believe in him for salvation will have eternal life (John 10:28, 11:25-26). Salvation is a free gift, accepted through faith, and is not something we can earn by good works (Ephesians 2:8-9). Jesus is the only way to reconciliation with God (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). We enter into relationship with Jesus by confessing we are sinners who need a Savior and believing in him and his death on the cross as payment for that sin (Romans 10:9, Acts 16:31, 1 John 1:9).

Why is Bible Study so important? At Hundredfold we believe we enter into a right relationship with God through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ and our sins are covered by his death on the cross. Why then do we have to "do" something in order to follow Jesus? Why is Bible Study so important? While our eternal destiny is certain through Jesus, the state of our relationship with God can go up and down, just like human relationships. God gave us his Word, the Bible to help guide, protect, encourage and strengthen our relationship with him! As we get to know the heart of God better and better through study of both the Old Testament and New Testament, we understand more and more clearly exactly how he wants us to live and what he wants us to do. (See 2 Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)
